Showing peripheral panes

You can enlarge or reduce a peripheral pane, changing its size relative to the size of the central pane. After you show a peripheral pane in a view, that pane, in its current size, becomes part of the default view until you hide it. For information, see Customizing views.

The peripheral panes of a view change their location when the orientation of the view changes. For example, the scratch pane appears on the right in tall view and the bottom in wide view. For information, see Changing the orientation of a view.

To show or hide a peripheral pane:

1 Click a view tab.

2 Choose the pane from the tab menu. Panes showing are checked on the menu. Choosing a checked pane hides the pane.

Note: You can also show and hide peripheral panes with the View Controller. See Using the View Controller.

To enlarge or reduce a peripheral pane:

1 Show the pane.

2 Drag the inside border of the pane toward or away from the central pane.

It simplifies site building to use the scratch pane for building site modules (partial trees) and the central pane for assembling them. For this purpose, enlarge the scratch pane to the size of the central pane.
